Hey fellow Naturalistas!
Coming to you with a new post on straightening your hair.
When I first began to try and do a blow out & then straighten my hair, I always ended up with undesirable results and left confused with a fluffy wild head of hair. I eventually came to the conclusion that straightening y hair just wasn't for me.
That was until I did my proper research and realized that I just wasn't straightening my hair right. When done the correct way, you couldn't even tell that was a fellow natural.
It starts out with moisturized hair. Condition, condition, CONDITION. The more moisturized and conditioned your hair is, the less times you will have to pas eat over your hair to get it straight. I apply plenty of heat protectant and run a comb through my hair as I blow dry it. If you have a blow dryer with a comb attachment, then even better, but I don't so I just use a wide tooth comb. Be sure that hair is completely dry before moving on to straightening with your flatiron. Once I'm done drying my hair, I part my hair into four sections. Doing only small sections at a time, I chase my hair with a comb (especially focusing on my ends) while following with my flat iron. I only go over the hair once, or twice if I happened to get too thick of a section.
I go through my entire hair being sure to do small sections an chase my hair with a comb, focusing on the ends the whole time. That comb chasing method gives you the smooth and light, sleek finish.
That simple & easy :) of course it takes practice to find the perfect way for your individual needs, but those are the basics.
Happy straightening and remember: CONDITION and PROTECT.
Stay tuned & be Natural. :)
